EU project: DECORATOR - Circular transformation in architecture and construction in the Danube region
The EU Interreg project DECORATOR, which will start on 01.01.2024, aims to drive forward the circular transformation in the construction sector in the Danube region. DECORATOR sees the Danube region as a living real-world laboratory in which innovative tools are available for research and testing in order to overcome the challenges of the circular economy. These aspects include environmental, technological, socio-cultural and economic aspects - a holistic approach for a sustainable future.
Following on from the New European Bauhaus initiative, the DECORATOR project emphasizes that the circular economy and the transition to a sustainable future are not only of a purely technological nature, but also include aesthetic dimensions. The Danube region, characterized by a unique ecosystem and people who are adapting to the climate crisis with their local knowledge and solutions, is the focus of the project.
Over the next 30 months, 13 committed partners from the Danube region will work on identifying, mobilizing and systematically applying the existing knowledge in the region. The aim is to realize a new way of building and construction in harmony with the circular economy.
