Information

Wölfel Engineering GmbH + Co. KG is an independent technology-oriented medium-sized engineering company (SME) working mainly in the field of structural mechanics. Wölfel Engineering is the largest member of the Wölfel group of companies, specializing in tasks from dynamics and acoustics. With a team of more than 90 highly motivated engineers and scientists, Wölfel develops solutions for vibration problems in many industries, one of the most important being automotive engineering. With our pronounced professional specialization in structural mechanics, dynamics, it is possible for us to be active in different subject areas, e.g. investigation of seat comfort (FEM model of the seated person, seat tests, measurement dummy of the seated person) or investigation of brake squeal.

.

In addition to services for industry, we are dedicated to pioneering research projects. In this way, we contribute to the development of new technologies for commercial application.

Technology

Building on his university activities and his research at the TU Darmstadt, Professor Horst Peter Wölfel founded the company Wölfel Beratende Ingenieure in 1971. Today, such a young company would be called a "high-tech start-up" and a "spin-off" of the TU Darmstadt. The company's goal in the early years was to apply the then emerging computer simulation in the form of the finite element method for German industry, i.e. to be the mediator between university research and industrial application. This position is still characteristic of our company today. We always try to be at the forefront of new technological developments.  In the 1970s it was FE simulation, in the 1980s - building on our know-how in dynamics - we supplemented simulation with experimental modal analysis, thus bringing together calculation and measurement. In the 90s, probabilistic risk studies characterized our activities and today, industry-oriented, application-related research in the area of our core competence, dynamics, determines the path of our company. This includes the following topics, among others:

  • Earthquake Engineering
  • Seat Comfort
  • Active Vibration Mitigation
  • Structural Health Monitoring
