Prof. Dr. Dr. Marja Matinmikko-Blue
Marja Matinmikko-Blue is Research Director of Infotech Oulu Institute and Director of Sustainability and Regulation at 6G Flagship at the University of Oulu, Finland, where she also holds an Associate Professorship in Spectrum Management.
Marja completed her Doctor of Science in Communication Engineering in 2012 and Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering in 2018 at the University of Oulu. For more than two decades, she has been conducting multidisciplinary research on the technical, economic and regulatory aspects of future mobile communication systems in close collaboration with industry, academia and regulators. Marja has coordinated several national research project consortia that have successfully demonstrated new technologies, including the world's first Licensed Shared Access (LSA) spectrum trials and the introduction of a new local 5G operator concept that has already become a reality in many countries. It has actively contributed to and participated in regulatory bodies at national, European and international level. She also coordinated the preparation of twelve 6G White Papers under the 6G Flagship (the first White Papers on 6G worldwide) and led the development of the White Paper on 6G Drivers and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She has published more than 180 scientific papers and written more than 160 contributions for regulatory authorities.
