Dr. Johanna Pirker
Dr. Johanna Pirker is a computer scientist with a focus on game development, research and education as well as an active voice of the local indie development community. She has extensive experience in the design, development and evaluation of games and VR experiences and sees them as tools to foster learning, collaboration and real-world problem solving. Johanna began her career in the industry as a QA tester at EA and continues to consult studios on user research for games. In 2011/12, she began researching and developing VR experiences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is currently Professor of Games Engineering at Graz University of Technology (TUG) and was Professor of Media Informatics at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and Visiting Professor at ETH Zurich. Her research focuses on games with an emphasis on AI, HCI, data analytics and VR technologies. Johanna was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list of scientists.
