PD Dr. habil. Jeanette Miriam Lorenz
Jeanette Lorenz - Fraunhofer IKS,
Since 2023, PD. Dr. habil. Jeanette Miriam Lorenz has headed the "Quantum Computing" department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS. Since April 2021, she has been working as a Senior Scientist at Fraunhofer IKS to enable reliable and robust quantum computing. The aim of her work is to significantly advance the development of quantum technology in Germany.
Jeanette Lorenz studied physics and mathematics at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) Erlangen and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich. Her studies were followed by many years of research in experimental high-energy particle physics at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) and in Munich. She has led numerous international research groups both at LMU Munich and at CERN. Her specialty was the search for particle candidates for dark matter at the Large Hadron Collider.
She also completed her doctorate with distinction at LMU Munich in 2014. She habilitated in 2020 and has been teaching at the Faculty of Physics at LMU as a private lecturer ever since. Jeanette Lorenz also heads the Munich Quantum Valley consortium, which focuses on applications of quantum computing.
