Jan earned his Master's and Ph.D. in Materials Science at West Bohemian University and later became a professor there. After his studies, he spent time at Imperial College London (UK), Skoda Research Institute (CZ), Forschungs Zentrum Rossendorf (G), and Tohoku University (J) and currently he working at private research institute COMTES FHT. Recently he is visiting professor at Taiwan University of Science and Technology in Taipei (Taiwan). He has expertise in materials testing, and over decade he is dealing with additive manufacturing of special materials such as HEA, memory shape alloys, biomaterials and functionally graded materials. Jan is active in ASTM and ISO, chairing committees related to small-scale specimen testing.
