Dr. Harald Unterweger completed his master's degree in nanotechnology at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg with a focus on biomaterials, nanoparticular systems and organic electronics. He completed his doctorate in materials science at the Faculty of Engineering at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg in cooperation with the Section for Experimental Oncology and Nanomedicine (SEON) at Erlangen University Hospital. From 2018 to 2023, he headed the characterization and development of magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications at SEON. Since 2024, Dr. Unterweger has been part of the health network at Bayern Innovativ with a focus on biomaterials and medical technology and took over as Deputy Head of the Health Division in July 2025
