Giovanni Del Galdo studied Telecommunications Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and earned his doctorate from Technische Universität Ilmenau in 2007. He then joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS as a senior researcher, focusing on spatial audio technologies. In 2012, he was appointed full professor at TU Ilmenau, where he led the DVT and later the EMS research group, spanning a university chair and a department at Fraunhofer IIS. In 2024, he returned to Erlangen to join the executive team of Fraunhofer IIS, where he now oversees four of the institute’s eight divisions and is responsible for the strategic development of 6G technologies.
