Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Geralt Siebert
Siebert,
Geralt Siebert is Vice President for Research, Innovation and Sustainable Development at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, as well as Scientific Director and Spokesman of dtec.bw.
He studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich from 1986 to 1991 and completed his doctorate there in 1999 on the use of glass as a load-bearing component. Until 1998, he worked at the Chair of Steel Construction at TUM as a research assistant, and from 2000 to 2003 he taught "Structural Glass Construction" there. Since 1998, he has been working independently as a "consulting engineer" in the engineering office he founded in 1993. In 2003, he accepted a professorship in "Building Construction and Building Physics" at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich. He was Dean of Studies from 2010 to 2015, Vice Dean from 2014 to 2015 and Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences from 2015 to 2018. He was a member of the Senate from 2018 to 2022, has been a member of the University Equipment Commission since 2019 and has chaired it since 2022. In the BayWiss Joint Academic Partnership "Infrastructure, Construction and Urbanization", he is involved in the steering committee and as deputy spokesperson. In the field of glass construction, he is active in national and international standardization, expert committees and specialist bodies.
In his second term of office, Prof. Siebert would like to continue his work in the assigned fields of activity. This concerns increasing the scientific visibility and research-related positioning of the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich in the research landscape. To this end, it is important to optimize the university's internal framework conditions for research, continue to develop its profile, promote excellent research and develop the campus of the future. A central concern for him is the support of young academics and the expansion of research services.
