PiMON GmbH has patented know-how in the use of optical fibers as sensors, which is already used in the monitoring of pure fiber optic data lines. The start-up's goal is to make this expertise available for monitoring pipelines and other structures and buildings. A fiber-based Überwachung has significant advantages over traditional Überwachungsmethoden: Potentially dangerous incidents (eg construction work, leakage, sabotage, theft, etc.) are detected in real time and precisely localized, with costs and false alarm rate äußerst low, since the operation is largely automated.

An essential step in the further development is to adapt the evaluation software to the peculiarities of the respective field of application. Therefore, the company is interested in partners who enable test installations.

PiMON GmbH is developing a fiber-optic-based monitoring technology that is designed to detect and precisely localize a wide range of events along a pipeline in real time. Dangerous events (e.g. leak, construction work, act of sabotage) automatically trigger an alarm and service personnel are dispatched to the scene. Thanks to the system's rapid response, damage is prevented or minimized.

The technology can be adapted for long-lasting structures of any type.
