Electromobility is a contribution to climate protection. That is why N-ERGIE is working with municipal utilities and partners to establish a uniform charging infrastructure in northern Bavaria, thereby creating an important prerequisite for the breakthrough of electromobility. In addition, N-ERGIE is gradually converting its vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.

Energy storage is a central building block for the implementation of the decentrally organized energy transition. The heat storage facility at our Nürnberg-Sandreuth power plant site is one of the most modern heat storage facilities in Europe. It makes the CHP plant more flexible and increases the feed-in possibilities for renewable energies. In the SWARM pilot project implemented with Caterva GmbH, 65 decentralized storage units fed by PV electricity are linked via a newly developed energy storage system. The storage system has been qualified for the generation of primary control power and contributes to grid stability. A new type of battery storage system is currently being developed in cooperation with Gemeindewerke Wendelstein Bürgerkraftwerk GmbH and the Erlangen-based energy specialist AREVA, in which batteries from used battery modules of electric cars are recycled.
