Profile

The institute deals with methodological issues of quantifying small risks, the impact of particles and air pollutants on the lung and cardiovascular system, and the regional distribution and development of respiratory diseases and allergies. A new focus of the institute is the molecular analysis of complex diseases (e.g. asthma, type 2 diabetes, myocardial infarction). The central goal is to investigate the role of environmental influences and genetic predispositions on human health using epidemiological methods.
