The goal of the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry is to gain new insights into the causes of psychiatric disorders through a uniquely close link between basic research, clinical research and patient care, and to transform these insights into new diagnostic possibilities and treatment and prevention approaches. Stress and trauma-related disorders such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety disorders are the focus of research and clinical treatment services. The Institute's basic research is closely integrated with clinical research and care.
