FusionX:Global 2026

Munich - February 25-27, 2026

RECAP: We have accelerated the merger

The international fusion ecosystem came together in Munich for the first time. For three days, 500 heads from research, industry, start-ups and investment talked about the industrialization of fusion - in strong panels, keynotes and workshops. The presence of high-profile political guests, who assured the ecosystem of their support, also had a signal effect. These included Markus Blume (Bavarian State Minister of Science and the Arts), Dr. Rolf-Dieter Jungk (Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space) and Tobias Gotthardt (Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy).

By bringing the international fusion ecosystem together in Munich for the first time, we were also able to make a difference as an accelerator of fusion in this country - and even create a new momentum. This week, the Free State of Bavaria, the Bavarian start-up Proxima Fusion, RWE and the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) announced a Memorandum of Understanding. The aim is to put both the "Alpha" demonstrator and the "Stellaris" reactor into operation on Bavarian soil in the 2030s.

IMPACT: What has moved FusionX:Global

Merger location Bavaria strengthened

With FusionX:Global, Bavaria and Germany have moved more than ever into the focus of the international fusion ecosystem. In the press, for example, the strength of Bavariaand Germany as locationsis emphasized, which is also perceived by participants from other countries.

Focus on implementation

Compared to previous conferences, the focus was on concrete implementation issues: How can fusion power plants be realized? Which technologies and supply chains are necessary for this? The feedback from participants also confirms this strong focus on practical implementation.

New partnerships initiated

The conference facilitated new collaborations and partnerships in the global fusion ecosystem: from technological collaborations to joint initiatives along the future fusion supply chain. This is exemplified not only by the announced Mou, but also by strong collaborations within the framework of the conference, such as Focused Focused Energy.

Voices from the ecosystem

How the participants experienced FusionX: Global 2026

"Nuclear fusion is coming - not someday, but now. The fact is: to turn this technological vision into industrial reality as quickly as possible, we need strategic networking, long-term capital and strong partnerships. This is exactly what FusionX:Global stands for. The fact that this international congress is being held in Munich for the first time is no coincidence - it is the result of our strong fusion ecosystem of IPP, excellent universities and innovative companies. With the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria, we are creating the basis for turning research into added value."

- Markus Blume, StMWK
