Electromobility in Bavarian municipalities

Law and practice relating to charging infrastructure in municipalities

As an interface between the population, companies and administration, municipalities play a key role in the ramp-up of electromobility. In terms of quality of life, image and environmental protection, they benefit in particular from the advantages of e-vehicles. However, municipalities also face corresponding challenges, as the overall electromobility system is multi-layered and ranges from skeptical citizens to the energy supply of charging points and e-car sharing.

The charging station is just the beginning, not the end. After all, the charging infrastructure will only have an environmental benefit if more e-vehicles are put on the road as a result. In this area of conflict, there is often a great need for information regarding life cycle assessment, suitability for everyday use, standards or legal requirements.
For example, various legal issues arise when allocating public space or tendering for charging infrastructure, which are often not yet standardized in everyday municipal life.
