TheJoint Undertaking for High Performance Computing (EuroHPC JU)has published new calls for proposals for access to European high-performance computing centers. Since 2018 , EuroHPC has been driving forward the development of Europe as a leading location for supercomputing and artificial intelligence (AI) . Now, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in particular are benefiting from free access to state-of-the-art computing infrastructure. The aim is to accelerate industrial innovation in Europe and strengthen AI expertise.
The EuropeanJoint Undertaking for High Performance Computing (EuroHPC JU)is continuing on its course to make Europe a global pioneer in the field of supercomputing. With new calls for proposals for access to AI facilities at selected high-performance computing centers, EuroHPC is now opening the doors to research institutions, industrial companies, SMEs and start-ups.
The focus is on the so-called "AI Factories", which offer companies and research institutions state-of-the-art computing resources, data infrastructure and specialist support. They are intended to enable the development of large-scale AI models , accelerate the introduction of AI technologies in European industry and promote the development of expertise in the field of artificial intelligence.
Three different access models are available for the "Industrial Innovation" area, depending on requirements and level of experience:
- Playground Access: entry-level opportunity with limited resources for initial practical experience. Ideal for SMEs and start-ups that want to test access to AI computing capacities with little effort. Duration: 1-3 months.
- Fast Lane Access: For projects with medium resource requirements of up to 50,000 GPU hours and a duration of up to 3 months. Applicants must clearly demonstrate their requirements and receive technical support from the respective AI Factory.
- Large Scale Access: For large-scale AI projects with a high innovation impact. Over 50,000 GPU hours as well as additional data storage and support services are available for 3, 6 or 12 months.
Access as part of "Industrial Innovation" is free of charge for SMEs and start-ups and thus offers a unique introduction to Europe's most powerful AI infrastructure.
With this offer, EuroHPC strengthens European competitiveness in the field of AI-supported industrial applications and promotes the development of a networked innovation ecosystem between research, industry and technology centers.
