Future charging infrastructures - technologies and trends

The expansion of the charging infrastructure is a basic prerequisite for greater acceptance of electromobility in Germany. But which trends and technologies will ensure that the expansion is realized in a future-proof and sustainable manner in the future? How can concerns about this be dispelled? Answers to this question are provided by the current study "Future charging infrastructures - technologies and trends", which was realized by Bayern Innovativ together with Fraunhofer IAO. READ FREE

Conductive charging technologies for electric vehicles will make the race in 2030!

Charging Technologies in Electric Car Charging Prediction: which charging technologies will be used in 2030? (Photo credit: Bayern Innovativ) The experts agree and estimate conductive charging with an average probability of use of 94% in 2030 as the main charging technology for the future. This assessment is based on a Delphi study conducted as part of Bayern Innovativ's new study on "Future charging infrastructures  - Technologies and trends"

In comparison, the experts predict a very low probability of use for inductive-dynamic charging solutions in particular, at 14%. The main reasons for this are the high monetary and infrastructural outlay and a currently low level of technological maturity.

More details on charging technologies and other technology fields, such as battery technologies or communication and networking technologies, can be found in our study "Future charging infrastructures  - Technologies and trends".

As convenient as possible - customers favor app-based smartphone solutions for interaction at the charging point in 2030

(Photo credit: Bayern Innovativ) The smartphone is also the No. 1 medium for interaction and authentication at the charging point - at least that's how the experts estimate it in the Delphi study as part of the study "Future charging infrastructures - technologies and trends" by Bayern Innovativ.

According to this, the probability of using smartphone-based user guidance is 84% on average in 2030. With this existing solution, the user authenticates himself via a user profile stored in the app. The experts' approval of the use of plug&charge technologies is similarly high, at 79% on average.

More details on interaction technologies at the charging point and other technology fields, such as battery technologies or charging technologies, can be found in our study "Future charging infrastructures  - Technologies and trends".
