SPRIND launches the Next Frontier AI Initiative: €125 million to build European frontier AI labs - with scale, infrastructure and the goal of a new AI lighthouse company.
The Leapfrog Innovation Agency is launching a €125 million competition to select and build three European Frontier AI Lab s, companies that are developing their own AI models and are ready to scale up.
Ten teams will initially be funded for 24 months from July 2026. They will receive computing power, infrastructure, MLOps support and practical assistance in setting up their lab.
In fall 2028, up to three winning teams will be selected. These should be able to raise a financing round of 1 billion euros with the aim of creating "Europe's next pioneering technology company".

Early bird applications must be submitted between January 15 and February 15, 2026.
