The EU Commission awards the first mobility grants to 1802 artists and cultural workers. The vast majority of applications come from the visual and performing arts sector, followed by the music sector, but other sectors are also expected to participate in the program: Culture Moves Europe, he said, is for everyone to travel, exchange and create the art and culture for which Europe is famous. More than 130 Ukrainian artists have been selected for a grant.
The largest number of grants went to applicants from Germany (284), followed by Italy (248) and France (247). That's the result of the first call for applications under the EU's Culture Moves Europe funding, which covers travel and subsistence costs and awards individual grants. The program has a budget of 21 million euros and is implemented by the Goethe-Institut. By 2025, 7,000 scholarships are to be awarded through the program.
The first call received a total of 4,665 applications (for 7,689 individuals). The next calls will be issued in October 2023.
