The Start Up Energy Transition (SET) innovation platform has published its list of companies for 2025. The initiative is supported by the German Energy Agency.
The "SET 100 List for 2025" brings together the 100 most promising start-ups in the fields of energy transition and climate tech. The list was compiled by the innovation platform Start-up Energy Transition (SET), which is supported by the German Energy Agency (Dena) in cooperation with the World Energy Council.
"The SET 100 list is the central showcase for the world's most innovative and promising start-ups in the energy transition," says a Dena statement. The companies have previously applied for the SET Award, an international award for start-ups that are driving the energy transition forward with creative ideas.
For Corinna Enders, Chairwoman of the Dena Management Board, the selected start-ups present "tried-and-tested, forward-looking solutions that actively contribute to achieving our climate targets." She continues: "The SET100 list embodies the pioneering spirit that we need to master the global challenges of the energy transition."
Some start-ups will have the opportunity to present themselves at the SET Tech Festival on March 18 in Berlin. The winners of the SET Award will be chosen at the event. An international jury of renowned industry experts has selected the finalists from over 350 applications from 68 countries.
The competition is divided into five categories:
- Clean Energy & Storage
- Mobility & Transportation
- Industry
- Buildings & Construction
- Quality Energy Access & SDG-7
According to Dena, the initiative thus covers key areas of the energy transition and offers innovative companies a platform to present their solutions to a broad public. The "SET 100 List 2025" can be downloaded from the internet and the Dena website.
The SET platform was launched by Dena together with the World Energy Council and with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). In addition to the annual SET Award, the initiative also includes the SET Tech Festival and the SET Newsroom, which bring together start-ups, companies, investors and political players. The aim is to decisively advance the transformation of the energy sector through innovation.
