Photovoltaic modules will also generate heat in future: IBC Solar is launching sales of a PVT system from Dutch manufacturer Triple Solar. The aim is a silent heating solution.

The photovoltaic provider IBC Solar from Bad Staffelstein near Bamberg (Bavaria) is expanding its portfolio to include an integrated power and heat solution for buildings. In future, the company will take over the distribution of a photovoltaic thermal system - PVT for short - from Dutch manufacturer Triple Solar. This generates both electricity and heat at the same time, according to information from Upper Franconia.

The system is based on hybrid modules that convert sunlight into electrical energy and ambient air into thermal energy. A specially adapted heat pump supplements the modules to create a complete solution that supplies electricity, heat and hot water.

The Dutch supplier Triple Solar produces the PVT modules and the specially developed PVT heat pump entirely in its own factory in the Netherlands, as the Bad Staffelstein-based company reports. The individual components of the system come mainly from European supply chains, i.e. not from China.

Focus on densely built-up residential areas

According to the manufacturer, the combination of module and heat pump delivers up to 4.5 times as much heat energy as it consumes electricity. This puts the efficiency of the system well above that of conventional air-to-water heat pumps, assures IBC Solar. Compared to a conventional gas heating system, CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 90 percent. In addition, there is no outdoor unit and no operating noise, which makes the system particularly attractive for inner-city residential areas. More than 7,000 residential units in the Netherlands are already equipped with the system.

With this new product, IBC Solar wants to specifically address the market for integrated energy systems in Germany. CEO Dirk Haft sees the cooperation with Triple Solar as a strategic addition to the company's own portfolio. The focus is on urban and densely built-up areas where conventional air-to-water heat pumps with outdoor units reach their limits. According to Haft, the new solution also offers independence from the energy market.

According to Triple Solar, the company has more than 15 years of experience in the development and production of PVT systems. Company boss Cees Mager describes the partnership with IBC Solar as an important step towards gaining a foothold in the German market. The established sales structure and logistics of the German partner as well as the network in the trade are particularly important.

According to the two partners, the system is now available to certified installation companies via the IBC Solar sales channel. Triple Solar will provide training and services for the new technology. The aim is to ensure end-to-end implementation from sales to commissioning in order to accelerate the heat transition in the building sector.
