Enercity Erneuerbare and Enercon are cooperating on the supply and installation of around 100 wind turbines with a project volume of up to 800 million euros.

The Hanover-based energy company Enercity is expanding its position in the German onshore wind market with a strategic partnership. On June 6, the Group subsidiary Enercity Erneuerbare concluded a supply and service agreement with the wind turbine manufacturer Enercon, based in Aurich. The agreement covers around 100 wind turbines with a total project volume of up to 800 million euros.

According to Enercity Erneuerbare, the contract was concluded for two years, with an option to extend. In addition to the delivery, installation and servicing of the turbines, infrastructure services and the construction of transformer stations may also form part of the contract in future. The cooperation goes back to a tender that Enercity Erneuerbare had placed on the market.

Close cooperation with Enercon was already apparent during the negotiation phase. The aim of the agreement is to create technological planning security and ensure price transparency. "Ambitious growth and expansion targets can be implemented even more efficiently with strong partners," said Ralf Nietiet and Daniel Müller, Managing Directors of Enercity Erneuerbare, at the signing of the agreement. The combination of quantity, time and price gives both sides planning security.

Many projects ready for construction

Enercon sees the partnership as a sign of the increasing dynamism in the German wind market. "The transfer of building permits to project realization is increasing," says Benjamin Seifert, Regional Head Central and Northern Europe at Enercon. Close cooperation in project development is a success factor for future projects. Enercity intends to call up more than 30 wind turbines this year. The planned projects are to be implemented throughout Germany, although the exact locations have not yet been specified.

According to Enercity CEO Aurelie Alemany, the partnership not only strengthens the expansion of wind energy, but also economic development in northern Germany. "Wind energy creates added value - especially at our company, production and wind locations." Both companies are established players in the German wind market.

Enercity Erneuerbare is responsible for the development and operation of wind farms within the Group. Enercon is one of the largest German manufacturers of wind turbines and operates plants in East Frisia, among other locations. The partners expect that the contract structure will enable more efficient project implementation - also against the background of increasing requirements due to the accelerated expansion of renewable energies in Germany.
