Russia systematically curtailed its natural gas exports to Germany via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline a year ago and stopped them completely at the end of August 2022. As the Statista chart with data from the Federal Network Agency illustrates, Germany has also been relying on imports of liquefied natural gas since then. In terms of volume, however, LNG imports from Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium account for the largest share. Norway is currently (as of December 21, 2023) the most important source of natural gas for Germany.
