Since 2017, Stadtwerk Haßfurt GmbH has been operating an innovative combined heat and power plant (CHP) in which hydrogen from renewable energies is converted back into electricity in a highly efficient manner. The fuel comes from the company's own power-to-gas plant, which stores surplus wind power by electrolysis in the form of hydrogen.
