Safe, sustainable and economical storage solutions are needed for the energy transition. CMBlu has developed the Organic SolidFlow battery, which according to the company is the first scalable green battery available for commercial use.
The technology uses organic carbon compounds that are widely available, recyclable and non-flammable. This makes it an alternative to conventional battery systems, which are often based on scarce or critical raw materials.
The advantages at a glance:
- Scalable: performance and capacity can be adjusted independently of each other.
- Sustainable: Production without rare or conflicting raw materials.
- Safe: Free from flammable or explosive materials.
- Durable: Regenerable organic electrolytes ensure a very long service life.
- Recyclable: Materials can be fully recycled.
How it works
Organic SolidFlow batteries store energy in organic liquid electrolytes, which are stored in tanks and pumped through battery stacks as required. The combination of flow and solid-state technology enables maximum safety and efficiency.
Comparison with other storage technologies
- Compared to lithium-ion batteries: No shortage of raw materials, greater safety, virtually unlimited service life.
- Compared to hydrogen: Significantly more efficient in storing energy for up to 24 hours.
Areas of application
The batteries are particularly suitable for large stationary energy storage systems - from grid stabilization to renewable energies and industrial applications.
