Bavarian Energy Award 2026 - application phase started

The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs has been awarding the Bavarian Energy Prize since 1999. The prestigious award recognizes innovative and responsible use of energy. The application phase is now starting for the next round in 2026.

Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Hubert Aiwanger: "Our economy depends on a secure energy supply. That's why we need intelligent solutions that make the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy safe and efficient. With the Bavarian Energy Award, we are honoring precisely such ideas. From now on, companies, local authorities, universities and research institutes can apply with their projects. Those who take part can win twice over. In addition to the chance to win the prize, participants will get to know important players in the energy sector and benefit from strong networks."

Companies, local authorities, universities, research institutes and engineering and planning offices can apply. The spectrum ranges from cutting-edge energy-saving technologies to municipal showcase projects and research projects. New to the competition are the categories of energy research, digitalization and municipal energy concepts.

The competition is specifically aimed at projects from the following areas:

• Energy efficiency in industrial processes and production
• Innovative energy infrastructure projects
• Buildings as an energy system / real estate concept
• Municipal energy concepts
• Digitalization in the energy sector
• Energy research
  

Applications can be submitted immediately at https://www.bayerischer-energiepreis.de/ The deadline for applications is December 15, 2025. An expert jury will decide on the winners and the award will be presented in summer 2026.
