The largest solar park in the Bavarian district of Ebersberg has cleared the final hurdle. Anzing's municipal council approved the 25 MW project by partners Stadtwerke München and Isar Green.

The municipal council of Anzing has given its blessing to a major renewable energy project. Stadtwerke München and project developer "IsarGreen", also from the Bavarian capital, have been granted permission to build a ground-mounted solar park with a capacity of 25.2 MW in the municipal area.

The local parliament passed the resolution on June 3, making the building permit a mere formality. A project-related development plan was required for the green energy project in the municipality to the east of Munich, which relates to an impressive area previously used for agriculture. 19.2 hectares of land are required to install the 41,700 or so modules and other equipment. The park is being built north of the A94 highway between the districts of Auhofen and Boden.

Stadtwerke München relies on cooperation with local authorities in the surrounding area for its decarbonization strategy. To date, around 50 solar parks and solar thermal plants have been built in the region around Munich. In Anzing, Stadtwerke leases the land from a private owner.

The new project will contribute to the carbon footprint with annual savings of around 12,590 tons of CO2. The partners aim to achieve this by generating more than 25.2 million kWh of green electricity. In mathematical terms, this production is enough for more than 7,000 average households in which three people live.

There is no solar park of comparable size in the district of Ebersberg, to which Anzing belongs. A good 20 kilometers further north, in the district of Erding, Stadtwerke München was awarded the contract for an even larger project in the late summer of 2024. A solar park with a capacity of 37 MW is being built in Zengermoos near Moosinning.
