Knowledge creates progress: Sioux Technologies as a partner for medical technology innovations
10.11.2025
Behind every innovation in medical technology is a story of knowledge, technology and precision. From the first idea in the laboratory or at the desk to the finished result, ideas have to be tested, simulated and implemented. Sioux Technologies supports such complex development processes and ensures that technical expertise is translated into concrete solutions.
The international company, which is headquartered in Eindhoven in the Netherlands and has a site in Erlangen, is active in various industries, with the focus in Erlangen being on the healthcare sector. "We see ourselves as an engineering and high-tech partner - our guiding principle 'We bring hightech to life' describes this very well," explains Felix Winter, Sales Manager at Sioux Technologies Germany GmbH. "We don't have our own products. Our added value is that we continuously generate knowledge and make it available to our customers so that they can bring their innovations to market more quickly."
From the idea to the application
Sioux supports customers along the entire development path, from the initial idea to software and hardware through to production. The company is particularly strong in areas where projects are multidisciplinary, individual and technology-driven. "Our target market is always where it is highly complex and not about mass production," says Winter.
One example shows how this is put into practice: Sioux has collaborated with a Swiss medical device manufacturer to develop a scanner that makes cancer operations more precise. Using AI, the system can analyze tissue structures in very high resolution during surgery and help surgeons assess tumour margins in real time. Sioux contributed its expertise in software development, AI and performance optimization and also took over the industrialization and production of the device. Sioux's own investment also underlines its strategic commitment to the long-term success of the cooperation and the further development of innovative medical technologies.
Paving the way for innovation
"We see ourselves as enablers, i.e. initiators of innovations in medical technology," emphasizes Winter. "Because we don't focus on our own products, but on knowledge and methods, we can help companies with product ideas to implement them quickly." Sioux relies on interdisciplinary teams from physics, mathematics, optics, mechanics and software development. This multidisciplinary approach enables new perspectives and synergies that make development processes more efficient.
Internationally networked
With around 1,300 employees worldwide and various teams in Europe and Asia, Sioux works in an international network. This global structure means that it is possible to work on projects almost around the clock. At the same time, customers benefit from the knowledge and experience of colleagues around the world.
Trends at a glance
Winter currently sees two key development drivers in medical technology: AI-based digitalization and scalable high-tech industrialization. "Data processing, image analysis and AI-supported applications are shaping technological development in almost all areas," he explains. The digital twin is playing an increasingly important role - both in product development and in patient care. In technology, it enables components or entire devices to be mapped virtually and physical properties or operating conditions to be simulated realistically. In medicine, on the other hand, digital patient twins can model individual disease progressions and thus support personalized diagnostics and therapy decisions.
The focus is always on people: "The patient is at the center and the medical staff right next to them," emphasizes Winter. The main goal is to create solutions that allow more time for treatment and require less effort in the background.
Innovation as part of the corporate culture
Standing still is not part of Sioux's philosophy: "The innovative thing about us is that we are constantly evolving," says Winter. With the company's own AI Solution Lab, in which around 80 experts worldwide work on AI solutions, knowledge is constantly being expanded in a targeted manner. "Innovation happens when bright minds from different disciplines come together and can freely develop their ideas. This openness and room to think are crucial for practical solutions," explains Winter.
A vision with foresight
Sioux's vision is clearly formulated: with their technology and expertise, they want to contribute to a healthy, safe, intelligent, sustainable and liveable society. This aspiration shapes their work, as does their focus on long-term relationships with corporate customers and employees.
Networking with Bayern Innovativ also plays an important role. "I like the network because it broadens my horizons," emphasizes Winter. "Especially in such fast-moving times, a network like Bayern Innovativ helps you to keep a clear view. It's like having a compass on the vast sea of innovations." Such links bring companies, research institutions and experts together and promote the exchange of knowledge and experience. They create an environment in which new ideas can be directly implemented in projects, while at the same time strengthening Bavaria as a center for technological progress.
