The energy supplier EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg will equip eleven GSL retail properties with fast-charging stations. These include Edeka and Lidl stores.

Charge your electric car in parking lots at grocery stores for up to 400 kilometers in just 20 minutes: Energy supplier EnBW and real estate manager GSL want to make this possible at eleven locations. The two companies have agreed to cooperate on this, as they announced in a press release on June 13.

As part of the partnership, eleven GSL Asset Management GmbH properties across Germany are to be equipped with EnBW fast-charging stations. According to EnBW, these are mainly retail properties with food shopping facilities, such as Edeka or Lidl stores.

The first joint location has already been opened and is located in Röthenbach (Pegnitz) at the "Am Gewerbepark 2" retail park. Eight charging points, each with a capacity of up to 300 kW, are available at the new fast-charging location in Röthenbach. This makes it possible for e-car drivers to charge up to 400 kilometers of range during a 20-minute charging break - depending on the vehicle type.

"Fast-charging infrastructure at retail outlets is particularly useful for those who don't have a private charging infrastructure: The car charges on the side while they do their shopping," says Volker Rimpler, CTO of "EnBW mobility+". At the same time, the fast-charging stations would increase the attractiveness of the location for local retail companies.

EnBW is the operator of the largest fast-charging network in Germany. The energy company currently has more than 6,000 fast-charging points in operation. By 2030, the Group plans to provide 20,000 simultaneously usable fast-charging points in Germany alone.
