Cluster partners in focus - Syngenity

In our new series "Cluster partners in focus", we would like to take a closer look at professional and private aspects in the lives of our cluster partners to learn more about the people "behind" them. We start with our newcomer Syngenity: Who is Syngenity and what distinguishes the young company? Find out in our interview with Bastian Härzer, one of the founders and managing partner of Syngenity GmbH.

Dear Mr. Härzer, welcome to the Automotive Cluster. You are our 56th member! We are pleased to welcome you to our cluster.
Bastian Härzer: Thank you, I am also pleased to be a member of the Automotive Cluster and am already very excited about our future partnership....

At our first official "Meet & Greet", we would like to take a look "behind the scenes" and in particular get to know the person or people behind Syngenity better or learn who you are and what drives you so.
Bastian Härzer: Very much - I'm ready.

Let's start with the name - in many companies, the name is derived from the founder or founders or gives clues to product or service - At Syngenity, however, at least at first glance, this is not the case: What has moved you to this name?
Bastian Härzer: The name is a mix of words and is composed of the English terms Synergy (German: Synergie) and Ingenuity (German: Einfallsreichtum). This results in Syngenity. The name reflects what we are:  an innovative start-up that uses ingenuity and synergy to operate successfully.

Is the name a challenge for the German-speaking market?
Bastian Härzer: Quite the opposite, the name was deliberately chosen so that it works in the German-speaking as well as in the international area and has a certain recognition value.

Married to the company?

Head or gut - who has a stronger influence on your decisions at work?
Bastian Härzer: For me, the head is clearly in the foreground. But I have learned to listen to my gut as well - The combination of both works great for me.

Self-employed people are often said to be "married to your company"? How is that with you - Do you have enough time for private things?
Bastian Härzer: Working a lot has always been part of my life. Times with 60 hours per week and more are but definitely the exception. Sport is very important to me, and I create daily free space for it. Surely my family would also like more from me now and then, but I think I get the balancing act well.

With which hobbies or leisure activities can you switch off best or reduce professional stress?
Bastian Härzer: Most likely when running in nature, although the pace is secondary. For me, it is rather important to be in the fresh air. But a work-out is also a good balance for me. Since starting the company, I've managed to exercise regularly, since the daily car trips to and from the office have been eliminated. I thus create space for myself to actively reduce stress.

If you had one wish free: What would you wish for your professional future?
Bastian Härzer: I would wish for our business to be successful. A way back into, for example, an employment relationship is currently difficult to imagine. The current situation holds such a large measure of freedom, which has a very high value for me - I hope that this remains so...

We also hope that very much and wish you all the best! Dear Mr. Härzer, thank you very much for your exciting insights and see you next time!

Syngenity was founded as a start-up in 2019 by managing directors Bastian Härzer and Sven Bartelsen. The business areas include information security, data protection, quality management and compliance. One focus of the service portfolio is on TISAX® (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange). To this end, Syngenity's experts advise suppliers to the automotive industry on the successful implementation of the VDA's TISAX® standard. With their technical expertise, they also support the TÜV-SÜD Academy as lecturers, among others.

Syngenity recently became a partner in the Automotive Cluster. We would like to get to know the young company better and report on its activities at regular intervals - The next time in the series "Cluster partners in focus" we will devote ourselves in more detail to the topic of "TISAX".
