Bavarian research association FORDAYSEC

The Bavarian Research Association "Security in Everyday Digitization", ForDaySec, which is funded by the Free State of Bavaria, is concerned with targeted, interdisciplinary research into novel technical processes for the cyber security of private households, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public administration.

ForDaySec researches, in addition to solutions to increase the security for hardware and software, special security concepts that should be easy to use without special knowledge and at the same time take into account the aspects of technical data protection. The research also includes legal studies on update obligations and sociological studies on the use of technology in everyday practice.

In the ForDaySec research network, scientists from five Bavarian universities are working in eight subprojects to make everyday digital life more secure. The network is interdisciplinary and combines the perspectives of three disciplines:

  • Informatics
  • Sociology of Technology
  • Legal Science.

Externally, ForDaySec is represented by Prof. Dr. Stefan Katzenbeisser and Prof. Dr. Felix Freiling.

ForDaySec started in April 2022 and is expected to continue until March 2026.
