B3 - Batterie Bildungsnetzwerk Bayern: Shaping the future through qualification

10.11.2025

The energy transition and changes in the automotive industry are presenting companies and employees with new challenges, particularly in the field of battery technology.

This is precisely where the B³ - Battery Education Network Bavaria project comes in. As a "battery competence trio", B³ develops practical qualification offers along the entire battery value chain, from material selection and cell production to recycling and secondary use. The aim is to prepare skilled workers in Bavaria specifically for the requirements of the future and to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The project is supported by a strong network of research institutions, educational institutions and innovation partners under the coordination of Bayern Innovativ. Together, they are making a sustainable contribution to the transformation of the battery ecosystem.

Why is knowledge sharing crucial in battery technology?

Battery technology is a dynamic field that is developing rapidly. New materials, processes and applications are emerging in ever shorter innovation cycles. At the same time, the topic affects numerous sectors - from the automotive industry to energy supply and power tools. Keeping pace here requires not only interdisciplinary expertise, but above all an active exchange of knowledge.

Knowledge transfer: more than a "nice-to-have"

The transfer of knowledge is not a luxury, but a necessity, because:

  • Diverse fields of application demand customized solutions and specific expertise.
  • The global speed of innovation means that knowledge can become obsolete within a matter of months.
  • High complexity arises from the interplay of science, technology, business and political conditions.

Without a targeted exchange of knowledge, valuable know-how is at risk of being lost - with direct consequences for innovative strength and competitiveness.

The solutions: The battery network at Bayern Innovativ and the B³ Battery Education Network Bavaria

With its activities in the field of batteries, Bayern Innovativ repeatedly creates platforms for knowledge transfer, whether cluster meetings, webinars or, with the Bavarian Battery Congress, entire major events. Bayern Innovativ is also the consortium leader of the B³ Battery Education Network project, which is developing training courses along the battery value chain.
The network works according to a clear principle: research institutions provide specialist knowledge and prepare it in a practical way with training experts. In this way, it is made available to Bavarian companies in training courses and they can benefit from it individually. In addition to successful knowledge transfer, the collaboration can also lead to future collaborations.

Knowledge makes the industry strong!

Battery technology can only be as innovative as the knowledge that drives it. This is why networks such as B³ and exchange formats are of central importance. They make it possible to shape progress together - across disciplines and industry boundaries.
