The Lower Franconian EPC service provider Belectric has commissioned a solar park with a capacity of 96.7 MW not far from the company headquarters. A battery storage system is to follow.
Three areas, together more than one and a half times the size of the Munich Oktoberfest site, 165,000, mostly bifacial PV modules: The company Belectric has commissioned a solar park near Kolitzheim with an installed capacity of 96.7 MW.
According to the EPC service provider - the acronym stands for Engineering, Procurement, Construction - the plant will generate around 105 million kWh of electricity per year. To promote local biodiversity, more than 16 hectares of compensation areas for endangered bird species have been created around the solar park.
The next step for the company, which is part of the Elevion Group, is to build a 35 MW battery storage system near the solar park. The plans for this are reportedly in the final stages.
"Thanks to the great framework conditions created by the municipality of Kolitzheim for photovoltaics, the plant is a prime example of how solar expansion can work in Germany," explained Belectric Managing Director Thorsten Blanke at the start of operations. The company operates the PV system itself and also carries out maintenance and servicing.
