Vision for sustainable building: The house of the future in the Danube region
11.12.2024
What does the ideal house of the future look like? This question was the focus of the EU Interreg project DECORATOR, in which Bayern Innovativ worked with partners from Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Austria and Bavaria to develop sustainable and innovative approaches for the construction industry.
A special feature of the meeting was the use of the agile Scrum method, which was applied here in an adapted form. In four thematic sprints - planning, delivery, construction and demolition - innovative approaches were developed in a short space of time. The results impressed experts such as Eva Halsch (Energy & Construction, Bayern Innovativ), Henning Berthold (Cultural and Creative Industries, Bayern Innovativ) and Zagreb architect Marina Zajec. The latter got to the heart of the matter:
However, everyone involved agreed that a sustainable building in the Danube region can only serve as a role model if it is actually built. This would allow the values of the New European Bauhaus, which the project is based on - sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion - to be brought to life. Such a building would not only be a beacon project for the green transformation, but would also demonstrate concrete solutions to the challenges facing the construction industry.
