Starting signal for DECORATOR's local pilot campaigns

in dialog with Smart Cities & Regions

08.05.2025

As part of the 9th Network Conference - Smart Cities & Regions under the motto "Digitalization as a driver for sustainable urban development", the regional starting signal was given for the local pilot actions of the EU project DECORATOR - Circular Transformation in Architecture and Construction in the Danube Region. The event provided an excellent opportunity to present our project to a broad audience of experts from the fields of urban development, energy, construction and digitalization and to create initial points of contact for local implementation.

Together with our project partners from Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences, we were represented with a themed table under the motto "Construction". Although the thematic focus of the conference was on the digitalization of business parks, districts and energy and mobility strategies, our approach of circular transformation in the construction sector met with great interest. In numerous discussions with representatives from local authorities, public utilities, research institutions, business, economic development and urban planning, it became clear that sustainable urban development requires new materials, planning approaches and life cycles - and this is precisely where DECORATOR comes in.

The network conference was therefore a successful start to local communication about our Bavarian pilot projects. Topics such as digitization of existing buildings, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and resource efficiency proved to be connecting interfaces between smart urban development and circular construction and provided valuable impetus for further project implementation.

With new contacts, positive feedback and a strengthened network, we are motivated to start the next phase of DECORATOR.
