From April 13 to October 13, 2025, the New European Bauhaus (NEB) will be part of the EU presence at Expo 2025 in Osaka. With events, exhibitions and its own stand, the NEB will bring its vision of beautiful, sustainable and inclusive design to the international stage.
The NEB will be involved in workshops, talks and network meetings throughout the Expo. The focus is on creative solutions for social challenges - in exchange with experts and visitors from all over the world.
With the event "Shaping Urban Futures: Design, Technology & Democracy", the NEB program officially launches at the Expo. Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, will open the session. The session will discuss how design and technology can strengthen democracy, promote urban resilience and foster social cohesion - with contributions from experts from Europe and Asia. A Q&A with the audience and an informal networking reception will round off the program. The event will be streamed live.
The EU Pavilion in Osaka is an expression of the three core values of the New European Bauhaus:
Beautiful. Sustainable. Inclusive.
Aesthetics: The architecture combines modern design with European cultural heritage - a space that encourages reflection and exchange.
Sustainability: Environmentally friendly materials and energy-efficient technologies make the pavilion a symbol of Europe's climate responsibility.
Inclusivity: With multilingual guidance, barrier-free design and open meeting zones, the pavilion is a place for everyone.
A dedicated NEB stand presents pioneering projects and materials that make the circular economy and sustainable design tangible. Visitors will experience how design innovatively combines ecological, social and cultural issues.
