"Deutschlandnetz" - charging infrastructure in municipalities

At the moment, electromobility is being discussed very heterogeneously in public. Regardless of this, the mobility of tomorrow will be predominantly battery-electric for economic and technical reasons. The prerequisite for this is the further expansion of the charging infrastructure. Against this backdrop, the federal government is providing a nationwide, demand-oriented and user-friendly fast-charging network throughout Germany with the German network at more than 1,000 locations with around 9,000 fast-charging points.

However, this also raises legal questions regarding the allocation of space, particularly for local authorities and districts, e.g: "Do municipalities have to provide public space for charging infrastructure?" "What must be taken into account when allocating public space?" "Are there differences between public and non-public space?"

The Competence Center has already addressed these topics and initiated a workshop on "Charging infrastructure in the municipality" in mid-July 2024. Further information events on charging infrastructure are in preparation. The federal government now also offers various handouts via NOW GmbH.
