Kumovis was founded at the Technical University of Munich by five alumni from fields ranging from medical to plastics engineering. The company combines its 3D printing technology with associated software to transform the manufacturing of medical products to improve patient care.

Kumovis is using the R1 to enable functionalized and individualized medical devices such as implants and surgical instruments, providing the medical device industry with regulatory planning and documentation to get products to patients faster.

The heart of Kumovis solutions is the company's filament 3D printer: Kumovis R1 is designed for medically suitable polymers such as PEEK, PEKK, PPSU or PLA and, with its integrated clean room, is the first of its kind in the world. Medical device manufacturers and hospitals can use it to adapt the production of medical products to patient requirements in a resource-efficient manner. Kumovis' technology offers design freedom with high-performance materials and has been validated by leading medical device companies and hospitals.
