Information
At the Chair of Polymer Technology, additive manufacturing processes (powder-, filament-, granulate- and liquid-based processes) are researched in their entire process chain. The development of new material systems and analysis of optimized process strategies on open plant systems as well as component functionalization represent essential research topics. Hybrid processes, which combine additive and subtractive processes in one manufacturing cell, are also being investigated. The evaluation of component behavior, long-term properties and dimensional stability is decisive.
The chair has about 1,200 sqm of office space and a total of about 1,600 sqm of space available for an extensively and modernly equipped processing pilot plant and testing laboratories equipped with the latest equipment. The research areas are supported by various laboratories with qualified staff who carry out both development work and expert testing.
Profile
A major research focus at the Chair of Polymer Technology is additive manufacturing. This includes fused layer modeling (FLM), selective laser melting (SLS) as well as liquid-based processes (SLA) with regard to material development, process analysis and optimization, tailored component properties as well as functionalization.
