Volker Dentel completed his technical studies at the officers' college of the former National People's Army (NVA), graduating with the title of university engineer. After reunification, he held a management position in the German Armed Forces.

In the 1990s, he switched to the private sector. He built up a nationwide distribution network for a large German publishing house. He then worked in the healthcare sector for over 18 years, including as a sales manager. His focus was on technical solutions for documentation, identification and data capture in the medical sector. Volker Dentel has been with kv.digital since 2015. At the beginning of his career, he took over responsibility for the further development of the format for the transfer of laboratory data (LDT). For five years, he headed the communication platform department and was responsible for the successful implementation of the KV-Connect communication service, among other things.

He has been Managing Director of kv.digital GmbH since 2022 and is committed to the digital development of outpatient healthcare.
