Tobias Lauwigi, Ph.D., is a research associate and technology expert for medical smart textiles at the Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) at RWTH Aachen University. In his research, he combines textile process engineering with medical technology applications and develops innovative sensor and actuator systems for clinical monitoring and therapy support. His doctoral thesis focused on fiber-based bioimpedance measurement for the early detection of thrombosis in membrane oxygenators in ECMO systems. In addition to his scientific work, he is active in interdisciplinary development projects with industrial partners and works on the transfer of textile-based medical technologies into application.
