As a research associate at the Institute of Vehicle Concepts at the German Aerospace Center, I have been working on the application-oriented simulation of wood-based multi-material systems since 2017.
In addition to tests on joining suitability, which are also carried out at our institute, the characteristics of samples and generic components are determined using quasi-static, dynamic and impact-dynamic tests in order to be able to create and calibrate material cards later on. In final validation tests, the predictions of the simulation are put to the test.
The necessary development of a methodology for the application-oriented simulation of static and crash-loaded structural components of road and rail vehicles is an exciting part of my work.
