- Member of Bavarian Expert Committee for Additive Manufacturing (01/23-12/25)
- Head of Advisory Board for Germany's longest standing AM congress Rapid.Tech 3D (since 05/23)
- Member-at-Large of ASTM Executive Committee F42 on Additive Manufacturing (since 2020)
Prof. Seidel is known for his expertise in the field of additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing. From Jan. 2019 to March 2023, he was Chairman of the world's leading standards committee, ISO Technical Committee 261 "Additive Manufacturing", of which he was a member from 2012 to 2023. From April 2016 to Feb. 2022, he was Chairman of the VDI committee "Environmental, Health and Safety Issues in Additive Manufacturing". Between 2018 and 2023, he has received five awards from national and international organizations for his achievements in the field of additive manufacturing. Amongst others, he earned the Joerg Lenz Connection Point Award from ASTM F 42 Committee on Additive Manufacturing, the highest honor the committee awards.
From 2014 to 2024, Christian was part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe's premier organization for applied research, holding roles such as Head of Department and Director for Strategy and Institute Development and Head of Additive Manufacturing at the Fraunhofer-Institute for Casting, Composite and Processing Technology IGCV. In 2023, the Executive Board of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft awarded him a "Recognition of Excellence" for his research into multi-material additive manufacturing.
