Dr.-Ing. Astrid Rota
Astrid Rota,
Dr. Astrid Rota completed her studies at the University of Karlsruhe (KIT) with a degree in Engineering and earned her PhD (Dr.-Ing.) at the University of Bremen in the field of Production Engineering, focusing on powder metallurgical process development. For over ten years, Dr. Rota worked at the Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen, developing innovative manufacturing technologies using powder metallurgy. Her work focused on the strategic and market-oriented direction of research and development for various industries, including medical technology, energy, and automotive.
Dr. Rota also gained experience as the director of an internal start-up for energy storage solutions at SGL Carbon, achieving sustainable economic successes. For the past seven years, she has led the Metal Process Technology division at EOS, a leading provider of industrial 3D printing solutions. There, she was responsible for the development of metallic materials and processes and, together with her team, defined the hardware and software requirements for new systems. Dr. Rota played a key role in advancing the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) technology. She continuously identified potential improvements for products to meet customer needs and worked on expanding the fundamental understanding of Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) as a strategic prerequisite for future developments.
Dr. Rota possesses extensive technical expertise in metallic 3D printing. She will contribute her long-standing experience to the Additive Manufacturing division at Kurtz Ersa and lead the 3D printing team, currently comprising 25 members. The Kurtz Ersa Group wishes Dr. Rota all the best for her upcoming tasks and looks forward to the collaboration and joint projects.
