Transformation Fund Circular Economy: Chemical recycling of plastics

Procedure

  • Due to the complexity of the projects and the novelty of the funding guideline, individual consultation is initially essential.
  • If an application is promising, a two-stage application procedure is followed. In the first stage, a project outline including a project description is submitted. If the assessment is positive, applicants are invited to submit a formal application. This is done via our electronic application system.

Personal advice

As a first step, we will be happy to provide you with further individual information on the BayTP+ program over the phone. In this conversation, we will assess without obligation whether your plans could be funded under the program. You are welcome to arrange an appointment directly with our Förderlotse Bayern team.

If your project is likely to be suitable for the program, we will then ask you for a brief written summary (exposé) of your project and background information on your company.

  • The synopsis helps our technology experts to assess complex and technically demanding projects. We will discuss the contents of your synopsis and the next steps with you during a consultation.
  • If the program is not suitable for your project, we will try to identify suitable alternatives.
  • If your project appears eligible for funding, you will be asked to submit an outline.

Sketch

Present your project to us in a project outline (15 pages). You will receive the required project description and the sketch form from us after a positive exposé meeting and personal consultation. You should obtain quotations for the necessary plant technology at this stage.

  • After submission, we will check your sketch from a technical and financial point of view.
  • The Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy will then evaluate the project.
  • The assessment is based on the conditions and objectives described in the guidelines. The expertise of the funding recipient and the plausibility of the outline are also taken into account.
  • The applicant will be informed of the result of the assessment in writing.
  • If your outline is assessed positively, you will be invited to submit an application.

Request

  • Applications are submitted in the electronic application system of the Free State of Bavaria. You will receive the access code for your application form from us.
  • The application requires a detailed technical project description and planning. The objectives of the project and the work and exploitation plan must be presented in more detail and in more concrete terms.
  • A precise financing plan is also part of the application. The planned financing of the applicant's own contribution must be substantiated with verifiable documents.
  • IMPORTANT: Your application will only be processed once we have received all the documents in full! This may also include additional information or documents that we request from you.
  • If you are seeking an early start, you must justify this in the project description.

Application review

  • Your complete application will be reviewed from a technological and financial perspective.
  • The application will then be reviewed by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy and the Bavarian Transformation and Research Foundation.
  • If the assessment is positive and after checking the availability and planning of the funding in the Bavarian budget, the Bavarian Transformation and Research Foundation will send you a grant notification by post.

Grant notification

  • The approval authority is the Bavarian Transformation and Research Foundation.
  • Your grant notification contains a timetable with binding deadlines for the entire course of the project as well as for the submission of calls for funds and interim reports.

Implementation period

  • You actively work on your project.
  • The costs incurred during this period are funded in accordance with the guidelines.
  • The progress of the project must be documented at least twice a year in interim reports at set times.
  • You call for funding at least twice a year.
  • The calls for funds are checked by the Bavarian project management organization for financial and technical reasons. The Bavarian Transformation and Research Foundation then pays out the pro rata grant.
  • The end of the implementation period is associated with a proof of use. The entire project is subject to a final technical and financial review by the Bavarian project management organization. As a rule, 70% of the funding amount is disbursed in drawdowns during the implementation period. The remaining 30% of the approved funding amount will only be paid out by the Bavarian Transformation and Research Foundation once the proof of use has been checked.

Utilization period

  • The implementation phase is followed by a five-year utilization period. During this period, summary reports must be submitted annually; the funds remain earmarked until the end of the utilization period.
