Funding at a glance

Your first point of contact is the Förderlotse Bayern. In a meeting, you will find out whether the BayTP+ funding program is suitable for you. If this is the case, you will be put in touch with the relevant specialist colleagues. If the BayTP+ program is not suitable for your project, the Förderlotse Bayern will advise you on alternative funding programs.

Funding is provided for costs incurred directly as a result of research and development activities. The BayTP+ program primarily funds personnel costs for research and development. Costs for instruments and equipment, expenses for contract research as well as other operating expenses and material costs for prototype construction are also eligible for funding. For small and medium-sized enterprises, expenses for obtaining, validating and granting patents are also eligible for funding.

No. In the interests of responsible and efficient use of taxpayers' money, double funding is not permitted. The content of existing projects that may be supported by other funding must be clearly differentiated from the BayTP+ project applied for.

Requirements & application

Yes, the BayTP+ funding is proportional funding and generally covers between 25% and 50% of the costs incurred by the project. Proof that you are able to finance your own contribution is required for the application.

Your company must not be in financial difficulties. You must provide verifiable proof that you are able to finance your own share of the development costs incurred, for example with bank statements or loan commitments. In addition, profit and loss statements and a liquidity plan that extends into the future must be submitted with the application.

Funding is applied for in the electronic system of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. If your project appears suitable for the funding program, you will receive an individual access code from us for submitting the outline. If the outline is approved, you will receive a new individual code for submitting the application.

Yes, all inquiries, sketches, applications and all information of which we become aware in the course of the project will be treated confidentially.

Time frame & deadlines

The BayTP+ program is open for applications throughout the duration of the funding guideline. After a successfully assessed outline, you will be invited to submit an application. You will have several weeks to process the application and compile the documents; the employee responsible for you will discuss the details with you.

After initial positive discussions, you submit a draft electronically. As a rule, you will receive a response around 8 to 12 weeks after receipt of the sketch and, in the event of a positive response, you will be invited to submit an application. More detailed technical and economic planning is required for the application, and accompanying documents must also be compiled. We will not process the application until all documents have been submitted in full. The Bavarian Project Management Agency and the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy will evaluate the application. If your application is successful, you will receive a funding commitment in the form of a funding notification. In our experience, it usually takes between 6 and 12 months between the first contact and the funding decision.

The funding period for the "Development" part of the program is determined by the duration of the project and thus the content of the task. As a rule, projects are funded for a period of up to three years. Funding for technical feasibility studies is limited to a maximum of one year.

Start of the project

BayTP+ funding must be applied for before the project is started. If you have been asked to submit an application and have submitted the application with all the accompanying documents in full, you may start the project at your own risk and without receiving funding. Any earlier start is ineligible for funding.

You will receive a legally valid funding approval in the form of a notification from the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy after your application has been reviewed.

In order to receive funding, you must not have started the project yet. This means that you must not have started the actual work on the project and must not have commissioned any current or future services related to the project.

Disbursement of subsidies

You can call up funds at least twice a year. To do this, you must submit documents that prove the corresponding costs incurred by you, such as receipts for hours worked, invoices or depreciation. As a rule, 80% of the funding amount is paid out during the implementation period in calls for funds. The Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy initially retains 20% of the funding amount and only pays this out at the end of the project after the proof of use has been checked.
