Trade fair participation for Bavarian universities

Participation in leading international trade fairs in particular offers the opportunity to

• maintain contacts with commercial enterprises and other universities.

Bavarian universities have been participating in this successful form of knowledge and technology transfer for over 20 years. Since 01.01.2019, Bayern Innovativ GmbH has been supporting them in this and working together with the transfer offices of the Bavarian universities.

• Individually equipped stand module incl. 55-inch monitor for the digital presentation of your content

• Cleaning and stand security
• Collective transportation of exhibits to the venue from Munich

Who can apply and to whom should the application be addressed?

All Bavarian universities, their institutions, chairs, project groups and spin-offs - provided the spin-off was not founded more than two years ago - can apply to take part in the selected international trade fairs. Applications should be sent directly to Gisela Baumann, Bayern Innovativ GmbH's trade fair representative. It can also be sent to the respective technology transfer office at the university. The transfer offices will then forward the application to the trade fair representative. They can also submit proposals for exhibits to be displayed at the joint stand.

When is the application deadline?

For trade fairs in the first half of the year (January-June), exhibitors are selected in the fall, usually in the first week of October of the previous year. For trade fairs in the second half of the year (July-December), exhibitors are selected in the spring, usually in mid/end April of the respective trade fair year.

How are the exhibits selected?

The final selection of the universities' exhibition contributions is made by the Bavarian universities' trade fair representative, taking into account a balanced composition of the joint stand. Prior to the selection process, the transfer offices of the universities concerned will be informed and any questions that may arise will be clarified. Who supports participation in the fair?

Depending on the trade fair, financial support is provided either by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy together with the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts or exclusively by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.

What costs will be reimbursed?

Important note: The previous option of universities for the reimbursement of special funds (e.g. costs for the production of exhibits, information brochures, leaflets or travel and transportation costs) will no longer apply from 01.07.2023.

How are trade fairs selected?

The selection of trade fairs to be included in the Bayern Innovativ trade fair program is made by the trade fair committee. The trade fair committee is a panel of experts made up of representatives from ministries, universities and business organizations and Bayern Innovativ GmbH.

The selection of trade fairs at which the exclusive participation of universities and their institutions is possible is made by the trade fair representative of the Bavarian universities, subject to a funding commitment from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts and with the involvement of the transfer offices of the Bavarian universities. Scientists and academics can submit corresponding proposals to Gisela Baumann, the trade fair commissioner.

Is it also possible to apply for earmarked special funds for individual participation in trade fairs?

For trade fairs after July 1, 2023, it willno longer be possible to apply for earmarked special funds.
