In its first call for proposals, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership will provide EUR300.5 million to support projects that boost the production of renewable hydrogen, reduce its cost, develop solutions for its storage and distribution, and promote the use of low-carbon hydrogen in hard-to-reach sectors such as energy-intensive industries, aviation or heavy-duty transport.
The partnership will also push for the establishment of "Hydrogen Valleys" across Europe. These are complex projects that cover the entire hydrogen value chain in a given region, drive the diffusion of hydrogen, and create interconnected hydrogen ecosystems across Europe.
New in this call is that the call envisions several pilot projects that are expected to significantly accelerate the transition to a hydrogen economy. The applications that are successfully demonstrated in these projects could enter the commercialization phase and be replicated on a large scale (or commercial basis). In addition, support is provided for a "strategic research task" that takes a multidisciplinary approach to investigate the sustainability and criticality of electrolyzer and fuel cell materials.
Two deadlines apply to the call for proposals: 31. May 2022 and September 20, 2022
