The hydrogen technology standardization roadmap sets an important milestone for the successful market ramp-up of hydrogen in Germany and Europe.

The aim of the project is to accelerate the use of hydrogen technologies and ensure their safe and efficient application through targeted standardization and technical regulation.

In addition to the seven project partners DKE, DIN, DVGW, VDA, VDI, VDMA and NWB, more than 700 experts from industry, business, science and politics were involved in the implementation. Against the backdrop of climate change and the necessary energy transition, hydrogen has a key role to play - especially in areas that are difficult to electrify, such as buildings, heavy goods vehicles and industry.

The standardization roadmap provides a comprehensive overview of the existing standardization landscape and defines clear goals and recommendations for action. The results are divided into five central work areas: Generation, Infrastructure, Application, Quality Infrastructure and Training, Safety and Certification. The roadmap thus creates a reliable basis for future developments and supports the establishment of an efficient hydrogen quality infrastructure.

An outlook shows: The joint project will further concretize the roadmap and continue it in the long term in order to actively accompany the transformation towards a climate-neutral energy supply.
