The BDEW has published its annual report "Energy Supply 2025" and provides the latest figures and developments on energy supply in Germany.

Key findings:

  • Primary energy consumption almost stable, electricity consumption down slightly, demand for gas and district heating up.
  • Renewable energies account for 56% of electricity consumption, photovoltaics compensate for declines in wind and water.
  • Germany remains a net importer of electricity, but the import surplus is falling significantly.
  • CO2 emissions from the energy industry have fallen slightly, reduction since 1990: 61%.
  • Electromobility is growing strongly: 9 GW charging capacity, over 190,000 charging stations, especially ultra-fast chargers.
  • New buildings are increasingly relying on electric heat pumps: over two thirds of new homes are planned accordingly.

The 59-page report provides diagrams, tables and explanations on economic developments, infrastructure, prices and investments. It is available for download and can be used for annual reports and annual press conferences.

The entire report can be downloaded from the website of the BDEW Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V. (German Association of Energy and Water Industries) .
